Second Source was founded and incorporated in July of 1980 in the state of Connecticut. The company was started due to Perkin-Elmer's decision to stop manufacturing new systems and reduce service to its customers. Second Source has enjoyed a 50 to 90 percent growth each year by supporting those valued customers.
In September of 1996 Second Source purchased all of the remaining spare parts, assemblies, test equipment, procedures, Mylar drawings and microfiche for the Perkin-Elmer sputtering and etch product lines. This addition to our current stock has made it easier to support all of the Perkin-Elmer systems in the field. We currently stock over 5000 different items for the sputters. With the help of our superb vendors, quantity purchasing and low overhead, we are able to offer the same high quality parts that Perkin-Elmer supplied, but at prices generally 40 to 60 percent less than Perkin-Elmer or SVG Lithography.
Second Source is located in the Hudson Valley Research Park in Hopewell Junction New York. The research park is owned and operated by the IBM Corporation. We moved from the 2500 sq/ft Connecticut facility in August of 1995 to our new 5000 sq/ft facility. In 1999 we doubled the size of our facility again to 10,000 sq/ft. Our operation can easily expand and utilize the high technology at this facility. IBM has been located here for over 30 years and local businesses have developed in the area to support them. We utilize many of these businesses to support our operation.
